1999 - 2001

Nowacka emerges rapidly as a choreographic force.
Vibrant and bold, her very first choreographic
endeavors immediately catch the eye of the audiences and the critics alike. I can almost, a view into Eve's temptation in the garden of Eden, and In one short breath, about fragility and brevity of life receive the Paula Citron fFIDA Award, and the company is listed in The Globe and Mail's annual Top 10 list: "pieces that demanded to be noticed".
2002
Completion of a two-year process to create Touch, a piece inspired by the solitude of the cyber world. Once again a strong response ensues: "Nowacka's choreography is bold, like her performances" (The Toronto Star); "Nowacka continues to be one of the most exciting young choreographers around" (The Globe and Mail). I can almost is adapted to a Bravo!FACT film directed by Gregory Nixon and produced by Kathleen Smith for the Moving Pictures Festival and has since been seen at film festivals around the world.
2003
Nowacka receives the Toronto Emerging Artist Award. Light Explorations of a Darker Nature, a half hour work that is the most ambitious and complex to date, is created and premieres at the prestigious DanceWorks Mainstage series at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre as part of a double bill. It also heralds The Chimera Project as a serious presence in the dance world: "Nowacka is one of the most original choreographers currently working in Toronto, possibly in the country" (The Globe and Mail). Nowacka is featured as one of the most promising Canadian choreographers in Philip Szporer's and Marlene Millar's series of films Moments in Motion.
2005
The Chimera Project is awarded a choreographic commission from Dance Ontario for the creation of You're It, which then goes on to become "best of the best" (The Globe and Mail) at the fFIDA International Dance Festival gala. A second commission, Crossroads, a piece based on Slavic myths, is created for Dusk Dances. Light Explorations of a Darker Nature is performed in Vancouver as part of Dancing on the Edge: "…it's obvious why choreographer Malgorzata Nowacka has become the darling of critics and audiences alike" (The Georgia Straight).
2006
Premiere of the company's longest work, Keep All Sharp Objects Out Of My Way, as part of DanceWorks Mainstage Series at the Enwave Theatre. The piece, about confronting that which one fears the most, presents a shift in the choreographic craft of Nowacka, and is rates as one of top performances of the year in The Globe and Mail, Now Magazine and Eye. Light Explorations of a Darker Nature is shown at the National Arts Centre (Ottawa) in the national context of the Canada Dance Festival.
Now
Continuing on its trajectory towards becoming one of Canada's finest contemporary dance companies, The Chimera Project's current season will see the completion of a new full evening creation, The Hidden Spot, which tackles the subject of faith, and its anticipated premiere at Dance Victoria (BC). It will also mark the eight year of its educational involvement and the completion of a new Bravo!FACT dance film.
