FRESH BLOOD - an evening of dance featuring emerging choreographers, part of The Chimera Project's 10th anniversary season and Harbourfront's Next Steps Series.
FRESH BLOOD will feature interesting, innovative and surprising works from up-and-coming choreographers in the fabulous Enwave theatre, at the Harbourfront Centre - Toronto's partner in presenting cutting-edge, current and creative dance for over 30 years.
Requirements
- Emerging choreographers, companies or collectives with under 5 years of professional choreographic experience. The focus is on the choreographer's experience, which must be under 5 years professionally.
- Works must be innovative - any dance form and/or style is eligible and encouraged.
- Pieces must be under 5 minutes in length.
- Work must have minimal technical requirements (Choreographers will get a very minimal tech and a lighting wash).
- Selected choreographers will need to attend the technical rehearsal on October 27th or October 28th or October 29th.
- Choreographers are responsible for brining their own dancers, music, and costumes.
- Any topic/theme/idea is applicable - does not need to be connected to BLOOD in any way.
All choreographers will receive a professional DVD of their piece.
Enwave Theatre is a 400 seat theatre, with a proscenium stage. There will be no wings or back drop.

- Footage of proposed piece or previously performed work - can be from a rehearsal and in studio
- Proposed piece description
- Submissions must be postmarked on or before September 15, 2009

Dancer interested in working with a Fresh Blood choreographers
"I have been dancing since I was 3 years old. I started mostly with Highland and
then when I was 11 began doing jazz and ballet and later modern. I have been in
numerous production with a local theatre group in Prince George BC (where I have
had most of my dance and theatre training) and have performed roles such as
Maggie Anderson; in Brigadoon, and Vitoria "the White Cat"; in Cats, as well
as numerous chorus and dance roles. I am an Associates BATD Member and have
won many awards and scholarships for my dancing. I am presently beginning my
second year at York Unviserty as a Fine Arts Dance Major."
