In 1998 Martin joined the City Ballet of London as a soloist. Whilst at City Ballet he worked and created many roles with both classical and modern choreographers, which in turn, sparked an interest to explore a more diverse repertory and eventually led him to Rambert Dance Company in January 2000.
During his time at Rambert, Martin was awarded with the Dancing Times Dancer of the Month and in January 2003 was the first ever recipient of the London Critics’ Circle Dance Award for Outstanding Male Artist (modern) U.K.
Martin’s five year experience at Rambert was hugely varied, and gave him the unique opportunity to develop a close professional relationship with Artistic Director Christopher Bruce CBE as well as exposure to some of the worlds finest choreographers including: Jiri Kylian, Glen Tetley, Merce Cunningham, Mats Ek, Twyla Tharp and Hans Van Manen amongst others. The highlight of which was being chosen to perform the lead in Glen Tetley’s "Pierrot Lunaire", which lead to huge critical acclaim.
In November 2004 he joined Hubbard Street Dance Chicago under the directorship of Jim Vincent where he had the opportunity to expand his repertory to include the work of Ohad Naharin, William Forsythe, Lar Lubovitch and Nacho Duato. This experience lead to high profile engagements across the United States including The Hollywood Bowl with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, The Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Symphony Hall, Chicago, The Wolftrap Festival in Washington DC and the closing performance at the 75th anniversary of the Jacob’s Pillow Festival in Massachusetts, August 2007.
In October 2007 Martin joined the National Ballet of Canada where he was instrumental in the creative process of new work by such international choreographers as Crystal Pite as well as performing classic works of Jerome Robbins, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, John Neumeier, John Cranko and James Kudelka.
This fall Martin performs BLOOD with The Chimera Project.
